Eva Sue Lester, 86, went to her heavenly home on June 22, 2026. She was born on March 1, 1940, to the late John H. Owens and Violet Cardwell Owens.

She was one of those rare human beings who lived to serve others. Her greatest joy was having her family together around her kitchen table, talking and laughing. She was a wonderful cook and welcomed anyone who came through her door. She loved unconditionally, and her family came first. She was kind, wise, and loved her Lord.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Lester; two brothers, George Owens and William Owens; and one sister, Eleanor Davis.

She is survived by her three sons, Donald O. Lester (Beth), David F. Lester (Margaret), and Harold E. Lester (Cindy); eight grandchildren, Damon Lester (Mary), John Lester, Emily Radford (Chris), Tim Lester (Rebecca), Michael Lester (Cassidy), Dakota Lester, Ericka Hall, and Andrea Bailey (Jon); four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Elijah, Sarah, and Isaiah; and one brother, John Owens (Anne).

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia, with a service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Melissa Malcolm officiating.
