Elmer Lee Hay, 86, went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Hay was born April 05, 1936 to the late Oakley Hay and Velva Edwards Hay in Dickenson County, Virginia. He lived most of his life in Washington County, Virginia and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Elmer loved to put out a garden and take vacations to the Amish Country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He attended Greendale Chapel for many years.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by, two sisters Helen Fields (Ed), Stella Fields (Dean); one brother, James Hay (Virginia) all of Abingdon, Virginia.

Survivors include his loving wife, Annette Akers Hay of Abingdon, Virginia; two daughters, Debbie Mullins (Ed) of Abingdon, Virginia, and Karen Gobble of Meadowview, Virginia; one son, Allen Hay (Brandi) of Abingdon, Virginia; his grandchildren who were the love of his life, Courtney Jacobson (Nate) of Lexington, North Carolina, Derek Hay (Carrie) of Abingdon, Virginia, and Aaron Gobble (Ashlee) of Damascus, Virginia; five great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M. with Jerry Eggers officiating. A committal service will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Amedisys Home Health, Ballad Health Hospice Care, and special caregivers, Jill Arnold and Phala Fulks.
