Doris Faye Reynolds, 71, of Abingdon, VA, was called up home on February 21st after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born July 10, 1953 to Elsie N. Sexton in Tacoma, VA, Doris spent her childhood in Lorain, Ohio, marrying James C. Reynolds on October 2, 1969. The couple moved back to Southwest Virginia in 1996, settling down in the Abingdon area. During her life, she provided end-of-life care for many families. Doris enjoyed going out for Bingo Nights in Bluefield and around the region. She was known to be outgoing and a great friend to many people, spending her life helping and serving others.
Doris was preceded in death by James, who passed in 2008; her sister, Johnnie D. Boyd; her nephew, Jeffery Mucha; and her son-in-laws Donald Moyer, Bill Newman, and Charles White. Surviving her are sister Donna Haefer and sister-in-law Donna "Dee Dee" Mucha.
Doris's legacy is also carried on by a myriad of loving descendants. She had 5 daughters - Tina E. Reynolds, Tracy D. Moyer, Becky J. Kennell, Cindy N. Hershman, and Jamie L. Reynolds. Doris was blessed with a dozen grandchildren - Heather Backlund, James Moyer, Amandah Kennell, Alycia Birchfield, Dylan Kennell, Traylee Pizzillo, Courtney Pizzillo, Lyndsie Kennell, David Hershman, Tahlia Garlitz, William White, and Emily Harkless.
Doris had thirteen great-grandchildren— Rhyli Moyer, Noah Kennell, Logan Kennell, Andrew Backlund, Jonah Birchfield, Gracie Moyer, Layla Osborne, Emma White, Micah Harkless, Jennah Harkless, Oakley Garlitz, Eleanor Garlitz, and Charlie White. They meant the world to her, and so proud she was of all of them.
Special friends of Doris include Bonnie Young, Jeannie King, Betty Mowery, Jerry Mays, and Sandy Rivera. Doris also had great love for her little cat named Hershey.
Doris wished to extend a special "Thank You" to Mary and Kristi of Hospice & Palliative Care of Virginia.
