Don “Fats” R. Otey, age 67, passed away on May 7, 2026. Born on December 18, 1958, he was the son of the late Eugene and Hazel Otey.

Don loved fishing, spending time outdoors, and calling the mountain his home. He will be remembered for his love of nature and the simple joys of mountain life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Otey, Doug “Mose” Otey, and Jim Otey; and one sister, Monte Jean Guill.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Benjamin Arnold; two sisters, Eva Sue Stewart (Roby) and Louise Taylor (Charlie); four brothers, Gilmer Otey (Joyce), Robert Wayne Otey (Diane), Kenny Otey, and Sam Otey (Lisa); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

All services will be held privately.
