David Franklin Olinger, 84, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026. He was born on December 6, 1941, to the late William and Mammie Olinger.

David was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work. He enjoyed watching Virginia Tech football, but what he cherished most was spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his love of family and the many memories he shared with those closest to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mammie Olinger; three sisters, Polly Roberts, Susie Debord, and Juanita Sturgill; three brothers, Sam Olinger, James Olinger, and Ralph Olinger; and one son, Steven David Olinger.

David leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lois Olinger; two daughters, JoLana Bailey and Susie Price; one sister, Nancy Holmes; two brothers, John Bill Olinger and “Duck” Olinger; four grandchildren, Jeremy Frye, Shannon Bailey, Lia Wright, and Ashley Frye; and seven great-grandchildren, Ariah, Cami, Connor, Carson, Kingston, Hadley, and Kiara.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Virginia.

David’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him.
