Darrell Wayne Salyer, 65, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Darrell was born on April 13, 1961, to Stanley and Peggy Salyer. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved hunting. He also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke. Darrell was a farmer and gardener who found great joy in working the land. 11 years ago, he found an extended family in Robert and Sandy Hilt and cherished the time he spent farming alongside him.

Above all else, Darrell loved his family, and his grandchildren were his world. His love and dedication to those closest to him will forever be remembered.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Leon Salyer.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 46 years, Dianne Salyer; his mother, Peggy Ann Salyer; two sons, Adam Salyer (Heather) and Matthew Salyer (Kaylan); two daughters, LeAnne Utt (Ben) and Tara Sepulvado (Joseph); one sister, Brenda Salyer-Head (Jeffrey); four brothers, Daren Salyer, Dwight Salyer (Shelia), Daniel Salyer (Jane), and Gary Salyer; eight grandchildren, Hannah Salyer, Harper Salyer, Ella Salyer, Asher Salyer, Jensen Salyer, Holland Salyer, Ledger Salyer, and Indiana Salyer; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved K-9 companion, Jax.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cancer Center family on Island Road, especially Dr. Tamara Musgrave, Tiffany, and the entire staff, for the love and care they provided.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, Virginia, with a service to follow at 6:00 P.M.
