C. Wayne Stevens, a devoted family man and esteemed community leader, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Meadowview, Virginia. Born to Charles Stevens and Fannie Barrett Stevens, he was deeply rooted in the values instilled by his parents.

Wayne was a guiding presence in his community, known for his dedication and service. He spent over two decades as a firefighter with Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN, where he displayed unwavering courage and commitment. His leadership extended beyond his professional life, as he served as a Cub and Scout Master and a gun safety trainer, impacting the lives of many young individuals.

One of Wayne's proudest achievements was his role as a Board of Supervisors member for Washington County, Virginia, representing the Monroe District. He was currently serving his third term, and his efforts were widely recognized and respected. The nickname "Man in Bibs," affectionately given to him by Governor Youngkin, was a testament to his approachable nature and steadfast dedication to public service.

Above all, Wayne cherished his family immensely. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sharon Stevens; two sons, Charles Stevens III and his wife Kathy, and James Stevens with his significant other Jennifer Gray. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Charlotte, Hannah, and Charles “C.J.” Stevens. He is also survived by his brother, Clarence “Red” Stevens, and sister, Mollie Sullins, along with several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Frost Funeral Home. A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Attendees are requested to meet at Frost Funeral Home by 10:30 A.M. to join the procession to the cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers, honoring a man who was always there for others.

The Washington County Board of Supervisors and all Emergency Services in Washington County, VA, will serve as honorary pallbearers, reflecting the profound impact of Wayne's life and service.

Wayne's contributions to his community are enduring, and he will be remembered with great admiration and affection by all who had the privilege to know him.

In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to Isaiah 117 House.
