Carol Sue Wright, age 81, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away on July 21, 2026, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don Wright; her parents, George Thomas and Dorsey Ellen Gilley Mitchell; her brothers, Michael Mitchell and Larry Mitchell; her sisters, Jean Trent, Kathy Henderson, and Ellen Sheppard; and her son, David Allen Goodson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, James Goodson and wife, Shannon; her daughter, Kelley Crusenberry and husband, Gary; her grandchildren, Madison Denton and husband, Thomas, Israel Crusenberry and wife, Kimberley, Hope Crusenberry, and Heather Mathes and husband, Travis; her great-grandchildren, Christina Ketron, Julianna Ketron, Hunter Denton, Wyatt Crusenberry, Griffin Crusenberry, Grace Wakefield, Elisabeth Wakefield, and Jaxon Crusenberry; her step-granddaughter, Destiny O’Neal; and several beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Rehab & Memory Care at Bristol and Bristol Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care shown to Carol during her illness. They would also like to express their sincere appreciation to her special friends, Diane and Mark Paige, for their kindness, friendship, and support.
