Carl Eugene Hurd, 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Eugene was born on April 10, 1941, to the late Oliver "Perk" and Fannie Kate Hurd. He was a lifelong resident of Glade Spring. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and had a great passion for his dogs. Eugene was quite the prankster and enjoyed telling jokes. He served as a funeral assistant for 35 years at Farris Funeral Services.

Eugene is survived by loving wife of 37 years, Jennette; three brothers, Ernest Hurd, Jack (Judy) Hurd, and Marvin (Shirley) Hurd; four sisters, Doris Hurd, Mary Phibbs, Linda Yarber, and Maxie (Haynes) Hayden.

The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. Friday, November 17, 2023 at Frost Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Frost Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating with a committal service to follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Hurd, Cody Hurd, David Widener, Tim Thomas, Cody Thomas and James "Moe" Morrell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Vaught, Floyd Russell, Clark Hutton, Larry Joines, Dee Russell and Jeff Myers.

The family will receive friends at their home prior to the services.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Ballad Health Hospice Home Care for their love and support during this time.
