Born December 7th, 1929 has passed away on April 18th, 2026 at the age of 96.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ed Wyatt and Rosa Hart Wyatt, Blanche Blevins Wyatt, his wife of 27 years, as well as 6 brothers: Nelson, James, Otis, Worth, Lonnie, Chester, and 4 sisters: Bertha, Juanita, Ressie, and Lollie.
He is survived by a daughter, Jean Trogdon and her fiancé Steve Rymer, and 2 grandchildren, Scott and Shane Trogdon, their wives Morgan and Katie, respectively, and families.

Born in the mountains of North Carolina at the beginning of the Great Depression, Burley spent most of his early life on the family farm. After moving to Southwest Virginia and meeting his wife-to-be, Blanche, Burley participated in the construction of many miles of our local highways operating a Gardner Denver “Air Trac” rock drill until eventually taking a position and retiring from Sterling Casket Hardware Co. He enjoyed raising a garden, beekeeping, Grizzly Wintergreen Long Cut chewing tobacco, and talking about the past.
A private viewing will be held at Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, VA on Tuesday April 21st and a private burial service at Old Glade Presbyterian Church on Wednesday April 22nd where he will be laid to rest beside of his late wife.
In lieu of flowers, donations towards helping cover the cost of burial are asked to be sent to Frost Funeral Home and will be honestly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, try to find time in your day to reach out to anyone, family or friend, that you have not heard from in a while and ask them how they are doing.
