Barry Wayne
Dickenson
Nov 4, 1963 — Aug 15, 2026
On the peaceful morning of August 15th, 2026, Barry W. Dickenson went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Bristol, VA.
Barry was the youngest son of John Curtis and Katherine Virginia Dickenson. Barry spent over 30 years working in the electro-mechanical field before retiring from Enervest in 2019. Barry spent his spare time enjoying the Lord's creation, an avid hunter and fisherman from youth, one of his greatest joys in life was the passing of tradition and teaching his sons and friends the beauty of the outdoors and all it had to offer. He was a man of the strongest character and the fiercest love for those around him, always ready to reach out a helping hand to anyone in need. In his youth, he spent many days working the fields with his father and brothers. Tending to the crop and livestock each day instilled a deep understanding of hard work, discipline, and perseverance deep into his unshakeable character. With these characteristics, he found a loving wife and together they were able to raise three boys. A loving husband and father, a life fulfilling, his happiness shined until he left this world.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Kathy, his first wife, Kim and son, Dillon.
Those remaining to celebrate his life well lived are his loving wife of 35 years, Jamie Dickenson; son, Chandler (Kayla) Dickenson; son Colton (Sarah) Dickenson; son Chase (Summer) Dickenson; grandchildren, Jackson, Nora, Natalynn, Adam, and Nolan. His two brothers, John (Marlene) Dickenson; Tony (Denise) Dickenson. Special family friends, Teresa Vance, Dana Scott, and Rhonda Williams, and a host of other friends and family members.
The family wants to thank all those involved in his care over the years, including the hospice staff at Ballad Health and the office of Dr. David Thompson.
Funeral services will be conducted by Frost Funeral Home in Abingdon, VA. As per Barry’s wishes, there will only be a private graveside service for family and close friends at Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus, VA at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Parkinson's Foundation at The Parkinson's Foundation.
Frost Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the family of Mr. Barry Wayne Dickenson.
