Alice “Alma” Endicott gained her angel wings and went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 15, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her children and loved ones, following a brief illness.

Alma was born on August 23, 1940 to the late Dolphie and Martha Hurley of Hurley, VA. Alma lived most of her life in Hurley, VA before moving to Abingdon in 1989/1990. She is proceeded in death by her mother and father Martha and Dolphie Hurley, her husband Jr. Endicott, Son in-laws; Scott Deel, Jeffery Wallace, Charles Shortridge, six sisters; Ola and husband Fred Shortt, Belvie and husband Hershel Daniels, Graffie and husband Clarence Short, Mae and husband Curtis Keen, Anna Lou and husband Estel Ashby and Maggie and husband Walter Hick, five brothers; Vernal Hurley and wife Irene, Ira Hurley and wife Catherine, Lillard Hurley and wife Edith, JB Hurley and wife Joanne and Charlie Hurley and wife Ada.

Alma is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Fletcher; her children Connie Shortridge Dales and husband Iven, Cheryl Justus and husband Al, Debbie Wallace, Wade Endicott and wife Tami, Sandy Bandy and husband William, Dewey Endicott, and April Hall and husband Lynn.

Surviving Grandchildren: Brian Shortridge and wife Samantha, Tabby Cline and husband Chris, Allan Justus and wife Brooke, Alex Justus and wife Brittany, Catrina Wallace, Tiffany Mash and husband Mitchell, Jeffery Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace, Abegail Tran, Kendra Burrow and husband Ryan, Alison Miller and husband Ian, Derick Endicott, Tyler Deel and Emily Hall.

Surviving Great-grandchildren: David Shortridge and wife Cassidy, Adrianna Davis and husband Toby, Andrew Mash, Madison Mash, Olivia Mash, Hudson Miller, Beckham Burrow, Isla Janel Hall, Sophia Bolden and Brody Justus

Alma was raised in and lived the Holiness Faith; she was a faithful attendee of Shady Grove Holiness Church pastored by Adam Wise. Alma’s greatest passion and desire was to be in the house of God to worship her Lord and Savior. One of her greatest joys was singing for Christ. She didn’t simply sing songs of Faith; she sang them from the depths of her heart. Her voice was reflection of the love, gratitude, and unwavering faith she carried throughout her life. Whether she was singing at church, worshipping alongside her loved ones, or simply lifting her voice in praise, she found a special joy in singing for her Savior.

Her love for Christ could be heard in every song she sang. She used her voice to worship, to encourage others, and to share the hope she found in Him. Singing was more than something she loved to do. It was one of the ways she expressed her love for Jesus.

First night visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Shady Grove Holiness Church, 350 Shady Street, Abingdon, Virginia 24210. A service will follow at 7:00 P.M.

Second night visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Shady Grove Holiness Church, followed by a service at 7:00 P.M.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at Shady Grove Holiness Church. Interment will follow, with the procession proceeding to Greenspring Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Abingdon, Virginia with Wade Endicott, Andel Hurley, Pastor Adam Wise, and Mitchell Mash officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Though her earthly voice has grown quiet, the songs she sang and the faith behind them will remain in the hearts of all who loved her. We find comfort knowing that she is now in the presence of the One she spent her life singing for, where she can worship Him forever.

To quote the words of our precious mother and grandmother, “He’s my life, without him I am nothing!”.
