Albert Macklin “A.M., Uncle Hammer, Pal” Owens, age 90, passed away on March 31, 2026, at NHC–Bristol.
Albert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a devoted caregiver to his wife, Katherine.
He retired from Holston Valley Distributing Company after more than 40 years of dedicated service as a salesman and supervisor. A man of deep faith, Albert was a member of Suburban Christian Church for over 50 years.
Above all, Albert cherished his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time together, especially gathering around the table for family meals.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Katherine Owens; his parents, Sarah and Edward Owens; and several brothers, sisters, and nephews.
Albert is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Widner (Jerry), Susan Stout, and Angie Meadows (Rick); his granddaughters, Kristen Bosse (Mike) and Sarah Phillips (Phoenix); and his great-grandchildren, Isabella Bosse, Chance Bosse, and Scarlett Phillips.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Frost Funeral Home Chapel in Abingdon, Virginia with a funeral service to follow. Interment will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Virginia.
Pallbearers will include Chris Owens, Greg Owens, Steve Hardin, Brian Perkins, Braxton Britton, Phoenix Phillips, Mike Owens, and Jessee Owens.
Albert’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at NHC–Bristol, as well as Racheal Freeman and Emily Aiken of CVA Heart Institute, for the loving care and kindness shown to Albert.
