Lee F. Garrett, age 82, of the Green Spring community, Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
He was
born on April 4, 1937, to the late Claude E. “Blackie” Garrett and Bernice Huff
Garrett. Lee was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. and lived his
entire life within sight of his homeplace.
He was
a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for the Virginia Department of Education
for 35 years before retiring as a state supervisor of vocational trades. Lee was an active member of Green Spring
Presbyterian Church where he served on the deacon board and also ran the sound
system for many years. He had also
served on the Washington County Park Authority for 26 years. He enjoyed antique cars and tractors.
Survivors
include his wife of 60 years, Grace Gilmer Garrett; two sisters, Mary Ann Moore
and husband, French and Claudia Sprinkle and husband, Malcolm; and several nieces
and nephews.
The
family wishes to express a sincere thank you to his caregivers at Commonwealth
Senior Living.
Visitation
with the family will be held from 11 a.m., to 12 p.m., Tuesday, October 1,
2019, at Green Spring Presbyterian Church.
A celebration of life service will follow at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Jon
Martin officiating.

of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Green Spring Presbyterian Church,

choice.
