FUNERAL SERVICE ASSISTANTS

Although not licensed funeral directors, these members of our staff are vitally important toward the operation of our firm.  These individuals make it possible for us to professionally coordinate funerals with the quality of service our community has come to expect from us.

Hunter Watson, Licensed Funeral Service Apprentice Email: hunterwatson@eva.org Hunter has been working at the Funeral Home since 2005 and has recently completed his apprenticeship. Hunter also holds the position of a Licensed Real Estate Agent with R&R Auctioneer's & Realty. He enjoys Wakeboarding & Snowboarding and spending time in Colorado and Utah. He is planning on attending Embalming School in the future.

Rev. Jerry A. Eggers, Licensed Funeral Service Apprentice Jerry has been affiliated with the funeral home since 1969 and licensed as an apprentice since July of 2009. He is a retired employee of the Smyth County School System, and is the pastor of Greendale Chapel, Abingdon, VA.  He is married to Dorinda B. Eggers. He is very active in the community and has been the longest standing employee of the Funeral Home.

Larry Brown, Funeral Directors Assistant Larry has been with the funeral home since 2006.  He is retired from Appalachian Power Company.  He is married to Erma Combs Brown.  Larry & Erma presently live in the Watauga area of Washington County and have two children, Travis and Tracy. Larry enjoys the outdoors along with his wife they go on numerous fishing trips and travel extensively. They both enjoy camping and spending time with their grandchildren. They are members of the Greendale Chapel.

Mike Hagy, Funeral Directors Assistant Mike has been with the funeral home since 2005.  He is retired from the Washington County School System.  He is married to Fran L. Hagy  Mike taught in the school system for 35 years and Fran is an RN with Hospice of Southwest Virginia. Mike is an avid golfer and a member of Glenrochie Country Club. He and his wife both enjoy traveling and spending time at the beach with their two grandchildren. They are each involved in the Shady Grove Methodist Church and serve on numerous boards.

Carolyn Reynolds, Funeral Directors Assistant & Hostess Carolyn has been with the funeral home for over 12 years and is a lifelong resident of Abingdon.  She is a retired employee of the downtown Parks Belk of Abingdon.

C.D. Kestner, Funeral Directors Assistant C. D. has been with the funeral home since 2005.  He is a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA and a retired employee of the Washington County Schools System. C.D. is an avid fisherman and enjoys sharing his experiences in life with all he comes in contact with.  He and his wife Bessie C. Kestner are longtime members of  the Abingdon First Church of God where they have attended for over 50 years.

Roy McNew, Funeral Directors Assistant Roy has been with the funeral home since 2010.  He is a retired employee of Reynolds Metals. Roy also worked several years for the Columbus McKinnon Corp.  He and his wife, Lillian live in the Blackwell Chapel community and are members of Greendale Chapel.

Freddie & Jane Wilkinson, Transportation & Removal Mr. & Mrs. Wilkinson have been involved with the Funeral Home from 2006 and handle all the out of town removals. They both reside in Bristol, Virginia and love to ride their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Freddie's passion is restoring old cars and with emphasis on old hearses.
